Job description, responsibilities and authorities

As a Lead Process Engineer, you will drive the industrialization of cutting-edge technologies by designing and evaluating highly efficient manufacturing processes. You will serve as a technical bridge between product design and production, leading the development of prototype tooling and functional samples while mentoring a team of engineers to ensure seamless manufacturability for future mass production.

  • Developing and evaluating production processes with regard to technical feasibility and economic efficiency.
  • Conceptualizing, assembling, and evaluating prototype tools for the production of sample parts to ensure future manufacturing feasibility.
  • Conceptualizing, assembling, and evaluating prototypes and functional samples according to technical specifications.
  • Analyzing and documenting the technical feasibility of products in relation to the production process.
  • Researching, evaluating, and selecting suitable production technologies for use in advanced development and series projects.
  • Providing active support to development departments (mechanics, electronics) to ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and participating in the FMEA process.
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating statistical test series (DoE) for process optimization and decision-making.
  • Identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers for key process technologies.
  • Assisting the team in defining test requirements to evaluate system functionality.
  • Communicating and collaborating with the R&D center in Germany and other MinebeaMitsumi centers worldwide.
  • Coordinating project solutions, reviewing colleagues' results, and overseeing junior engineers' work.
  • Preparing materials for training new colleagues, providing technical leadership, and training other engineers and students.
  • Supporting the Technical Team Lead in coordinating technical tasks and preparing result reports.

Personal requirements and skills

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes, process planning, and production technologies.
  • Minimum 5 years of practical experience in the development of industrial production lines (experience with winding machines and tools is required).
  • Basic business management knowledge to evaluate process alternatives.
  • Experience with requirement analysis and evaluation is an advantage.
  • Strong innovative ability to develop creative process solutions.
  • Proficiency in relevant measurement technology for process and product evaluation.
  • Excellent written and verbal English (German is an advantage).
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Teamwork capability and excellent communication skills.
  • High willingness to learn, especially in a dynamic pre-development environment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • At least 5 years in the field.
